Dear Holmdel Residents,

Thank you to everyone who attended last night's Holmdel Township Committee meeting. Whether we agree or disagree, open communication is essential to moving our community forward.

A special thank you to our all of our meeting attendees last night who shared their ideas, you did a fantastic job, and your voices matter. I hear you and will take your input seriously. I also want to wish Ron Emma and Kristen Celuaro the best of luck in the upcoming election.

Last night I reintroduced a motion to renew the shared services agreement we extended last year to the Holmdel BOE to support courtesy busing, calling for the same $610,000 commitment. While the motion was seconded, it was not brought to a vote. This was surprising and disappointing, considering it was mainly TC members who created the proposal in the previous year but there is never anything wrong with time for deeper discussion. I asked for the exact language to be duplicated that this same governing body unanimously supported voted into being last year.

Courtesy busing is about safety, accessibility, and supporting our families. It is both reckless and irresponsible to let it disappear without first understanding the cost of making our infrastructure safe for our children. We must urge the Mayor to have the Township conduct a proper infrastructure study before allowing it to potentially go away so we can make informed decisions on what the real cost impact is to our constituents.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. I remain committed to advocating for our students and our community and will continue to fight for the safety of Holmdel's children.

Sincerely,

Committeeman Joe Romano
